Gerard Butler thrilled with tattoo
by Brig (rawenen)

Saturday, 21 February 2009

Gerard Butler was so pleased to see his face tattooed on a fan's chest he took a photo.

The besotted admirer approached the actor at a New York Fashion Week after-party at Tenjune nightclub and professed his love for the Scottish actor.

He then lifted his shirt to reveal a torso completely covered with tattoos of scenes and characters from the film '300', in which Butler starred.

The 39-year-old star - who played King Leonidas in the surreal epic about the Greek-Persian wars - was so amused he took a photo of the body art with his camera phone.

He was later seen showing the images to a group of models.

Gerard recently revealed he is constantly stopped by over-enthusiastic fans.

He said: "You get people in the street where they literally, at times, go crazy, 'You don't understand this was the best film I ever saw!' And it's the strength of that reaction that is most overwhelming."

True Blood Season 2 Filming Continues as SAG Board Rejects Tainted New Deal
by Brig (rawenen)
at February 23rd, 2009 (07:51 am)

February 22, 2009 by KS Rose

True Blood Season 2 filming continues as the new deal brought to the board of directors of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) on Saturday was quickly rejected as expected. New talks of strikes by the contentious Members First branch of SAG were just as quickly rejected by the board as such a vote by the full membership is unlikely to pass in such tough economic times.

In an attempt to take advantage of the infighting that has been plaguing SAG, the producers added a ‘new’ condition that the deal must go for three years from the time of settlement instead of from the date of the old deal. This is a clear attempt to permanently separate SAG and AFTRA negotiations thus reducing the leverage of both unions. AFTRA split from SAG this past summer, taking the almost unchanged deal that SAG is now likely to accept if this new hurdle can be overcome.

"Gerard Butler took a break from checking out models at the tents to check out Broadway's "Fuerza Bruta" - and one of its stars, Rose Mallare. "He came backstage and saw Jude Law's name written in lipstick on Rose's mirror," says an insider. "He crossed it out and signed his own name on it!" Butler even turned up at Mallare's b-day party, where he showed his manly skills on a mechanical bull."

Scotland On Sunday: Most Eligible Men

Gerry is listed as #7 on "Scotland on Sunday's" "Most Eligible Men" list.
******************************

7 GERARD BUTLER

Actor, 39
London and LA

Unique selling point

This well-known Hollywood lothario will soon take on the role of one of Scotland's most important heroes, as the star of a long-awaited Robert Burns biopic, due to begin filming in Scotland later this year. With films ranging from the touching Dear Frankie and the smoochy PS, I Love You to the much more edgy 300 and RocknRolla, Gerry's career is hardly a stranger to the role of romantic leading man.

Fantasy Valentine

The actor has been linked with the likes of Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston and Naomi Campbell, so a supermodel physique will surely help your case. And right now you'd have to get yourself to chilly Philly, where he's filming Law-Abiding Citizen with Jamie Foxx.

Turn-on

It helps if you have a sense of humour. Following rumours that Gerry was to be the next James Bond, the actor quipped: "I've chatted with Barbara Broccoli and she knows that I'll only do it if Ann Widdecombe can be my Bond girl." Or maybe he really does fancy the country's most infamous virgin…

Turn-off

Don't put him under pressure. While filming a sex scene with Thandi Newton for RocknRolla, he was sick with embarrassment. "When Guy Ritchie asked us to writhe around in the bed, I was literally running around the room jumping up and down, saying, 'I can't do this! I can't do this!' I was so embarrassed."

In another life…

A passionate Celtic supporter, you might find him on the pitch scoring the winning goal in an Old Firm match. Alternatively, he did study law at Glasgow University, so might have ended up as a solicitor if the greasepaint hadn't beckoned.

Stephen Moyer Talks About True Blood and Vampires Before Australian Premiere
by Brig (rawenen)
at February 9th, 2009 (09:16 am)

February 3, 2009 by AdoreBill

hbo-tbAustralia’s Showcase channel will be premiering Alan Ball’s hit HBO TV series “True Blood’ on February 10, 2009 and Couriermail.com.au is giving its readers a sneak peek at what this successful series is about and profiles Stephen Moyer who plays Bill Compton the 173 year old vampire in the series.

“True Blood” is Alan Ball’s adaptation of Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse novels which is base on the premise that vampires do truly exist and have made their presence known as the result of the invention of synthetic blood by Japanese scientists. As a result vampires no longer need to hunt humans to feed their hunger and now want to live in society as equals with humans even though they are looked upon with distrust and are discriminated. The show is a mix of sex, blood and humour all wrapped into one, set in the near future in a small Louisiana town called Bon Temps. Anna Paquin won a Golden Globe for her performance on the show as Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress who is immediately attracted to Stephen Moyer’s character, Bill Compton. Stephen Moyer describes the show and his character in the following:

“You can’t say it too many times that Alan is a clever man,” Moyer says of the Oscar-winning writer and director. “You’ve got this classic love story, which he gives a modern twist to . . . you’ve got the funny, you’ve got the sexy, you’ve got the downright dirty, but you’ve also got the drama of it. Alan creates this outsider who comes into the town and is immediately looked at with suspicion,” Moyer says of his character. “So he’s kind of a metaphor for any minority group you can think of, whether it be the idea of blacks in the South or homosexuality or any outsider group, really. That’s the sort of deeper level that I find very interesting. I couldn’t believe it when I read it. I was just blown away by the idea of him.”

Stephen Moyer’s southern accent is so convincing that is it is hard to believe that it is fake and that he speak naturally with a British accent. New Zealander Anna Paquin and Australian Ryan Kwanten‘s (who plays Sookie Stackhouse over sex-driven brother, Jason Stackhouse) southern accents are so well executed that it is hard to believe that they are not American. When asked why there is such an international cast playing the roles of southerners Mr. Moyer explains that:

“I truly don’t believe that actors in America don’t exist to have been able to play these parts,” he says. “Alan just sees things in people and he’ll wait until he finds what he wants. “Anna, obviously, we all know, is a pale brunette and she’s playing this tanned blonde girl, but she had to go through the whole audition process. It wasn’t offered to her. She ended up reading with five blonde actresses, with her still dark and pale, and Alan just believed that she could do it.”

When Mr. Moyer is asked about his future he states that “it’s nice to have finally found a place in the sun career-wise”. He states that several offers have come his way but has not taken them because since his kids live in England he didn’t want to leave them unless something really great came along. Mr. Moyer states “I’ve been in a very nice position for the first time in my life to say, ‘You know what? I don’t need to do that at the moment’.” However, one of the main drawbacks of playing a vampire is trying to avoid getting a suntan in Los Angeles.

“I wasn’t allowed to go into the sun because my character’s white. After a while I was like, ‘Come on, guys. I’m in LA! I live by the beach. Let me play’. Then of course I started getting the LA permatan and got in big trouble."
